From Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor to The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, pumpkin is woven into the fabric of history and culture. Native Americans made medicinal use of pumpkin seed oil long before the Puritans began carving Jack o’ Lanterns. Today, we appreciate pumpkin not only for holiday traditions but also for the nourishing nutrients it delivers in modern-day beauty rituals.
When you twist open the lid on the Magic Pumpkin Facial Mask & Peel by Alchemy Home Company, the sweet pumpkin scent almost tricks your senses into thinking you’ve taken a freshly baked pie right from the oven. But there’s no trickery when it comes to the numerous skin health benefits of this skincare product.. The dramatic difference Alchemy’s Magic Pumpkin has made in my skin tone is a testament to the power of a natural pumpkin facial treatment to:
- Improve texture of skin to make it look healthy and nourished.
- Targets hyper-pigmentation and acne problems.
- Exfoliate dead skin cells.
- Stimulate the cell renewal process.
- Soften fine lines.
- Hydrate the skin.
You might ask, what makes pumpkin a potent skin treatment?
Pumpkin is a rich source of antioxidants and enzymes that act like alpha-hydroxy acids, which have been shown to promote smoother skin by exfoliating dead skin cells. It’s also a source of skin nourishing nutrients such as Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Beta-Carotene, which have anti-oxidant and cancer-fighting properties.
What Makes Alchemy’s Pumpkin Facial Peel Different?
For starters, the Alchemy Girls take their recipes for natural skin nutrition seriously. Whenever possible, they harvest their ingredients with great care for botanical properties. Process, substance and scent are deeply important to the company’s two creators, Stacy Giovannucci and Sarah Eynon who both come from a lineage of herbalists, artists and innovators.
The rich, gelatinous consistency of Alchemy’s Magic Pumpkin Peel goes on thin and spreads smoothly across your skin with just your fingertips. Within a minute or so, you’ll feel a gentle tingling and warming sensation as the gel sets on the skin. This combined with the penetrating effects cinnamon and nutmeg essential oils, you literally feel this product working to promote circulation and enhance your complexion. (Not to mention the essential oils give an aromatherapy-like quality to the facial treatment). Alchemy’s product also contains glycolic acid, which gently transforms dull skin into radiant skin. And radiant is how your skin looks after you wash off the gel. In my experience, and others I’ve recommended the product to, there’s no redness, no bumps or burning as you might see with other peel products for the skin.
The Proof is What Happens After the Peel
I started using Magic Pumpkin Peel once a week in August. I continued using it about 3 times per month throughout September and October. But friends and family started conveying compliments about my skin –when I wasn’t wearing make-up—only a month after I started using Magic Pumpkin Peel. In particular, they noticed the areas around my jaw line, where I had discoloration from sun damage and pregnancy-related skin changes, were “dramatically more even-toned.” One colleague asked if I had a micro-dermabrasion treatment. I had not.
In general, peel like Magic Pumpkin is good for all skin types and skin tones. If your uncertain, or you know you have very sensitive skin, be sure ask the Alchemy Girls about whether or not the product is right for you.

Benefits of Pumpkin for the Skin – International Dermal Institute
Before I found the Alchemy Product, I had tried this Homemade Pumpkin Mask from Wellness Mama. It uses bentonite clay, which gives a very different consistency than I typically prefer for my skincare products, especially during the fall and winter months. So, I’ll be sticking with the Alchemy’s Magic Pumpkin Mask and Peel for a while.
